I thought it would be easy to make one.
All of the DIY methods to make the bittersweet wreath involved finding the plant growing naturally and cutting pieces off. I have never seen bittersweet growing in Texas, to my knowledge. So, off to Michael's I went.
I bought a grapevine wreath (~$5), and looked for orange berries or bittersweet branches… Which I could not find (or they had lots of other stuff on the branches with them). So, I found these orange and yellow sorta iridescent blossom wire sprays that were in bunches and taped together at the bottom.
I think anything similar would do.
I used about 3 or 4 of these. They were on sale for $4 each (originally $8.99, I think). Since the grapevine wreath was $5, the whole project was about $20.
I took each sprig apart and then kept playing with it till I liked the way it looked. I tucked the (ugly) wire end into the wreath and kept tucking the floral part under the branches as I curved it around. It took less than 30 minutes. I did not attach or hot glue anything. And I used twist ties to attach it to my door.
